ROLLY ROCKS OUT FOR TOWNSVILLE ACTS

- CAITLAN CHARLES

TOWNSVILLE’S newest music festival is making the best of what the region has to offer after Covid-19 forced two headline acts to pull out.

Rockin The Rolly Music

Festival will bring the

Rollingstone Hotel to life this October long weekend, offering a plethora of local music, stalls and food trucks over two days

While rock levels The Radiators and Sky vs Spy were supposed to headline, event co-ordinator Kimberley Rogers-ford said organisers were forced to pivot to a local focus due to Covid.

Ms Rogers-ford said a few extra local acts were added to the line-up, with the festival now dedicated to North Queensland bands.

“We’re doing our best to make a festival out of what we’ve got here,” she said. “We’re excited to support our local acts.”

Ms Rogers-ford said while some people had been negative about the shift, she was excited about how many people had held on to their tickets.

She said it would have been unfair on the local bands to scrap a festival that was giving many of them a rare chance to play amid the pandemic.

Tickets are still available to Rockin The Rolly, with more information on the festival’s Facebook page.
