WHAT DOES THIS MEAN FOR TOWNSVILLE?
Townsville is not in lockdown, however the city will go back to stage two restrictions.
There are new restrictions for weddings, funerals and hospitality businesses. If you have been to an exposure site, you need to follow the directions from Queensland Health.
WHY ARE WE NOT IN LOCKDOWN?
Premier Annastacia Palaszczuk put stage two restrictions in place to avoid going into lockdown, but the situation
is being closely monitored. The Premier has dismissed claims the once-in-ageneration NRL grand final was keeping her from declaring a snap lockdown.
WHAT WILL HAPPEN WITH THE NRL GRAND FINAL?
The NRL grand final is still scheduled for Suncorp Stadium. However, it will go ahead at 75 per cent capacity due to the stage two restrictions. If the case count escalates in the southeast, it could move to North Queensland, however, it would still be held at 75 per cent capacity.
