Townsville law firm closing doors
A WELL-KNOWN Townsville law firm is set to close its doors two years after it was founded.
There was some interruption in Townsville Magistrates Court proceedings on Wednesday morning, with several lawyers telling Magistrate Ross Mack they were now overseeing matters previously held by Lake Legal.
A lawyer employed with Lake Legal, Michael Breneger, told Mr Mack the firm would be “closing down”.
The firm’s principal solicitor, Ralph Lake, confirmed to the Townsville Bulletin the practice would close for retirement reasons. Mr Lake declined to comment further.
Lake Legal Pty Ltd has held registered ABN since July 2019. Mr Lake has worked extensively in multiple avenues of law for more than 25 years, with the firm’s website listing his various qualifications and experience.
A former federal prosecutor, Mr Lake is a returned serviceman who has worked and consulted for major government and private organisations throughout his career.
