GET ACTIVE AND MAKE A BID

- SAM FLANAGAN

A TOWNSVILLE business owner has combined her love of activewear and brunch for an exciting event for women across the city.

LV Active owner Jodie Coey-braddon has organised “Brazil, Bids and Bevvies” to be held in Flinders Lane next month.

The brunch event will include a runway show of over 100 Brazilian-made activewear items and the opportunity for guests to bid on pieces in real time.

“Ultimately, I really wanted a fun, social event for girlfriends to get together and have a few hours to do something they’d enjoy,” Mrs Coey-braddon said.

“I wanted an event with a difference and something I haven’t seen before.”

Mrs Coey-braddon said Brazilian activewear catered more to a woman’s physique than the regular brands.

“What I love about it is it’s comfortable,” she said.

“It’s nice to wear activewear that can stretch but not distort and become seethrough.

“I love wearing a pattern that very few others are wearing. All the items are one-offs in Townsville. When you hit the Hill or walk The Strand, everyone is wearing the same thing. You’ll be the only one in this, it’s unique and exiting.”

The live auction at the event will be through an app and will not involve bidding.

All items will have a fixed price and it will be the first interested person to click who buys the item.

The event will run from 10am-1pm on Sunday, October 10.

Tickets are $35 per person or $300 for a table of 10 and include brunch, the runway show and the live auction.
