Champ takes on the challenger Chances galore in Epsom Handicap
SATURDAY 3.35PM
Flemington sees the clash of last season’s undisputed champ of middle-distance Australian racing Verry Elleegant and the new kid on the block Incentivise. Coming in off the back of seven straight wins, Incentivise is certainly the testing material for the brilliant but quirky mare, but the exQueenslander is something special. He delivered at Flemington last time, after a handful of massive wins up north. But he’s never come up against the tenaciously brilliant Verry Elleegant. It’s set to be must-watch racing theatre!
SATURDAY 4.05PM
One of the great ‘mile’ races in the country, the Epsom Handicap of 2021 has any number of chances. But it’s the in-form Gai Waterhouse and Adrian Bott stable that is likely to step out the favourite. The ultra-consistent Riodini has been placed at his past two starts under WFA conditions, yet drops to a featherweight 51.5kg for the big handicap. But it won’t be an easy task for the five-year-old against an arsenal of five Chris Waller-trained gallopers. And then there’s the classy Mo’unga out of the Annabel Neasham stable.
