TOWNSVILLE’S construction industry is in survival mode, with operators feeling the pressure of mounting material costs, dangerous labour shortages in key fields and a record number of projects to be completed.

Industry leaders say while the sector may not be on the brink of collapse, there is a long road ahead to regain some stability.
