Breath test ends in fine
TODD Jason Drew faced Townsville Magistrates Court on a charge of driving over the general alcohol limit, but not over the middle alcohol limit on Wednesday.
The court was told Drew had been pulled over for a random breath test in Pialba at 8.20am on August 13.
Officers smelt alcohol on his breath, and he recorded a blood-alcohol reading of .064.
Drew said he had 10 drinks the night before and was driving to work at the time he was pulled over.
Magistrate Ross Mack said sometimes things like this happened.
“It shouldn’t, but it does,” Mr Mack said.
Drew was fined $300 and disqualified for one month. No conviction was recorded.
