Off road for months

BEAU Ashton Wilkins claimed he had been “counting” his drinks the night before he was pulled over by police on Magnetic Island.

His explanation came after he pleaded guilty to driving over the general alcohol limit in Townsville Magistrates Court last Wednesday.

“I thought I was under the legal limit,” Wilkins said.

“I was counting my drinks over six hours.”

Magistrate Ross Mack said he was sure Wilkins “thought he was OK” to drive, but it was easy to lose count.

Wilkins was fined $450 and disqualified from driving for two months.

A conviction was recorded.
