New Covid-19 case crops up in city’s count
TOWNSVILLE has recorded a new case of Covid-19, but the infectious person doesn't live in the city.
Two cases were recorded in Queensland yesterday, both reported in the Brisbane region. But one case, which has a residential address in Townsville but no longer lives in the
North, has been added to the city’s list of cases.
The positive case is a 19year-old woman who flew from Victoria to Brisbane and was quarantined after arriving.
The second case was a three-year-old girl linked to the aviation cluster.
Townsville’s Covid-19 data has been increased a number of times due to people living in the southeast and still having their official residential address in North Queensland.
Queensland chief health officer Dr Jeannette Young said Queensland’s two new Covid cases were not concerning.
“I do need to see more testing,” she said.
Dr Young said the young girl was in home quarantine.
The teenager who arrived from Melbourne received confirmation on the flight from Victoria that she was positive.
Everyone on the flight from Melbourne was already required to enter hotel quarantine. Townsville is yet to record a case of community transmission stemming from the aviation worker who tested positive to Covid-19 on Thursday last week.
