Evidence in childcare bus case reviewed
THE legal team of a woman accused of leaving a four-year-old girl on a Townsville daycare bus will need more than a month to review police evidence, a court has heard.
In a mention of childcare worker Chiquetta Terese Paronella in Townsville Magistrates Court on Tuesday, police prosecutor Mark Fenlon said a brief of evidence had been completed.
Mr Fenlon told Magistrate Cathy Wadley the brief should be with Paronella’s lawyers that day.
Her lawyer, Madeleine D’urso, requested a six-week adjournment in order to “review” the brief.
Paronella (pictured) faces a single charge of endangering children by exposure.
It is alleged Paronella left a four-year-old girl fastened into the seat of a bus belonging to a West End daycare centre on July 15.
The child was reported to have been in the bus for about an hour before she was found, and taken to hospital as a precaution.
Paronella’s matter will next be mentioned on November 16, with her appearance not required.
