TOURISM OPERATOR WINS AGAIN

- TRUDY BROWN

A NORTH Queensland tourism operator has thanked supporters after picking up the Tours and Attractions People’s Choice Award at a gala night held in Townsville.

Michael and Lynda Bethel from

Texas Longhorn Tours thanked their supporters and visitors for believing in them and their business.

“We certainly couldn’t have been presented with this award if it wasn’t for the support of people like yourselves,” Michael said.

Mr Bethel said the closure due to Covid-19 in 2020 had led to a year of

reinvention for the business.

He said that the interest from visitors had swelled at the end of 2020 and again in 2021 and that the couple was grateful for the support.

The North Queensland Tourism and Events Awards recognise the people, organisations and events that offer superior tourism experiences for

visitors in the North.

Charters Towers councillor Julie Mathews said it was fantastic two local attractions were nominated.

“I want to congratulate Herveys Range Heritage Tea Rooms for being nominated and Texas Longhorns Tours for winning the Tours and Attractions award,” she said.
