FESTIVAL OF SMALL HALLS TO MAKE HUGE RETURN TO REGION
LIVE music will take centre stage at the Festival of Small Halls when it returns to the North this month.
Artists Darren Hanlon and Kelly Brouhaha will feature at the concerts to be played during the 2021 Spring Tour to Charters Towers and Hughenden.
Festival of Small Halls is a series of tours taking the best folk and contemporary acoustic artists performing at two of the country’s largest festivals and sending them on the road to tiny halls all over Australia.
It’s an opportunity for music lovers from communities to invite artists from home and abroad into town and a great way of exploring the vast country in the spirit of hospitality and great fun.
Darren Hanlon has carved a sacred place in the hearts of many who cross his path with his candid and charming music and storytelling.
Not deterred by the Covid situation, Hanlon has managed to have a rich few years.
He has appeared in and singing the credits of the new Slim Dusty bio-pic Slim & I and garnering high rotation on ABC with his pandemicthemed song We All Cope in Different Ways.
South Australian awardwinning songwriter Kelly Brouhaha is an artist whose special style cannot be put into a box. From big blues to soulful country, it is music that is real and vulnerable.
Her debut album was released in 2019 and her 2021 album Unplugged hit No.1 on the AMRAP radio charts.
Her captivating live shows will have you giggling one minute and in tears the next as she tells stories about her travels, her family and her beloved 1992 Toyota Hiace, called Pamela Vanderson.
The Festival of Small Halls plays Hughenden Parish Hall on October 21 and St Paul’s Playhouse in Charters Towers on October 22.
