Gladys gives details of private note

- ANTON NILSSON

GLADYS Berejiklian has spoken publicly for the first time since she resigned as NSW premier, revealing the contents of a private note she left for her former colleagues.

Ms Berejiklian emerged from her electorate office in the Sydney suburb of Willoughby on Wednesday to pick up flowers left there by supporters.

“I just want everybody to know I will read every single card and every single message,” she told reporters.

Ms Berejiklian shocked colleagues and the public on Friday when she announced she was resigning as premier amid an anticorruption investigation.

Her former treasurer, Dominic Perrottet, took over the top job and on Tuesday told reporters that he had received a message from Ms Berejiklian that he read to the other Liberals at a private meeting.

Ms Berejiklian on Wednesday revealed what she said in the message.

“I just wanted to say thank you to everybody for the support they've showed me, it's very comforting,” she said.

“And I just want everybody to get behind the new Premier, Premier Perrottet, and the NSW government in this important time.

“He will be an outstanding leader in this important time.”
