YOUNG PORT RUCK WANTS POWER OUTAGE

- SIMEON THOMAS-WILSON

PETER Ladhams’ preference is to now seek a fresh start elsewhere even though Port Adelaide are more than happy to keep the young ruck/forward at Alberton.

Ladhams is looking at what options are available to him to be or soon be a number one ruckman at another club after Port told him that while he is rated at the club Scott Lycett is their top man for now.

Power general manager football Chris Davies said last week that the club would only let Ladhams go for something “significant”.

The Advertiser reported earlier this week that Ladhams had drawn interest from the Western Bulldogs, Geelong, Sydney and Hawthorn.

It is understood there is now a preference for Ladhams and his camp for him to leave the Power and get a fresh start elsewhere.

The 23-year-old has a year to go on his contract at Alberton but the Power have now added Jeremy Finlayson to its tall forward stocks. And perhaps in a telling sign for Ladhams’ future at Alberton, Port list manager Jason Cripps said the Power believed Finlayson could offer them flexibility as a second ruck option.

Any deal for Ladhams is expected to take a while with other ruckmen also looking for new homes.
