Medic’s honour
BEN Davoren, a former Australian Defence Force paratrooper and special operations army medic has been honoured as the Veteran Employee of the Year in the Prime Minister’s Veterans’ Employment Awards.
Mr Davoren, who now works for emergency medical company Tacmed, started his combat medical career in Townsville.
Now the business development manager for the company, Mr Davoren was first stationed at Lavarack Barracks in 2010, and spent a number of years in the city while in service and after being discharged.
“I was a bit nervous about doing anything tactical or medical again,” he said. “I did it and it was infectious to realise that my skills and my knowledge and my experience was incredibly valuable and I could use that as a foundation to now develop other capabilities in tactical medicine and pull the lessons learned out of the military and into law enforcement and other high-risk spaces.”
