New health centre opens at RAAF base
A NEW health centre servicing about 900 personnel has opened at the RAAF Base Townsville.
A government statement said local contractors helped build the “state-of-the-art facility”, which would provide comprehensive health care and airfield emergency health response for operational flying units at the base.
The development is part of a $200m overhaul of Defence health facilities at 13 locations across the country. Defence Industry Minister Melissa Price said the federal government’s Joint Health Command Garrison Facilities Upgrade Project to develop new and upgraded facilities supported 6000 jobs.
“These projects around the nation will deliver outstanding health services to more than 34,750 active ADF members,” she said.
