Aitkenvale carjackers on the run

SIX juveniles are on the run from police after a brazen daylight carjacking, involving a knife, at a popular Aitkenvale park on Saturday afternoon.

A Queensland Police spokesman said the attack occurred at Rossiter Park (pictured), at the corner of Kimball St and Kenealy St, Aitkenvale a b o u t 3.30pm.

A woman was in her car in the car park about to leave when she was approached by the group of youths.

One of them forced down her car window and waved a knife at her, threatening to stab her if she didn’t hand over the keys to her red Toyota Corolla.

A nearby bystander went to the woman’s aid.

The juveniles fled in the Corolla, sparking a large-scale police search, which included the dog squad.

The stolen vehicle was located six blocks away at Barcroft St, Aitkenvale at 5pm.

Police are yet to locate any of the suspects and investigations continue.
