TWINS’ SPECIAL NEEDS PROMPTS APPEAL

- SAM FLANAGAN

TWO beautiful twins have found a new ally as they continue the fight of their life, with a local mum getting behind the pair after they “pulled on my heart strings”.

Alexander and Jordan King have spastic diplegic cerebral palsy, global development delays and vision impairments caused by brain damage after falling ill at 10 days old with parechovirus.

The boys have required ongoing specialist and therapy appointments at a great cost to parents, James and Ashlee.

Lyndsey Gorris, a mother and owner of 5 Star Fitness, said she met the family through work.

“I didn’t know either of the boys had cerebral palsy and when I found out I wanted to help them,” Ms Gorris said. “They have a hard story with both boys being affected and just the ongoing cost with different treatments.

“As a mum it pulled on my heartstrings so we just wanted to get behind them.”

Alexander and Jordan enrolled in a three-week intensive therapy program at the Neurological and Physical Abilitation Centre in Sydney a few months ago.

The program comes with a hefty financial price, which is why Ms Gorris wants to raise $10,000 for the family so they can return.

A Gofundme has been launched for the fundraiser, which will run throughout November.
