Will my power bills go up and will there be more blackouts with net zero?
DR FINKEL SAYS: If the shift to renewable electricity is managed thoughtfully, electricity bills should be low because they will take advantage of the ever falling price of solar and wind electricity. There shouldn’t be blackouts if we invest in sufficient short-term and long-term storage, and plan for the worst case weather patterns rather than the average. Also, the system will be more secure if we have access to gas fired electricity generation to support the large scale use of wind and solar electricity.
