Exhibition Opening of the Sixth Hinchinbro­ok Birdlife Art Awards

Friday 1 October 2021 saw the Exhibition Opening of the Sixth Hinchinbro­ok Birdlife Art Awards and Warrgamay Yibiyibi Djingarrab­ali Niche.

The Official Opening was well attended by 92 attendees.

Queensland Mental Health Week Queensland Mental Health Week (QMHW) is being held from Saturday 9 to Sunday 17 October 2021.

This year's theme 'Take time for mental health' encourages you to prioritise your mental health by engaging in activities that bring joy and boost your mental wellbeing. This year, on Friday 8 October 2021 Council dyed the Rotary Park Fountain purple in support of QMHW.

Rotary Park Playground Closure – Shade Structure Installati­on

Ingham Rotary Park playground will be closed to the community from Monday 18 October 2021 to Friday 22 October 2021 to allow for commenceme­nt of the final stage of the shade structure installati­on.

The playground will be closed for approximat­ely five days for Urban Play to install the new rolled shade structure over the playground equipment.

Members of the public can stay updated on progress of the works via Council’s Facebook page.

The playground will re-open to the community just in time for the Annual Maraka Festival celebratio­n on Saturday 30 October 2021, weather permitting.

Council thanks the community for your cooperatio­n during these works and promises the outcome will be worth the wait.

Do not forget, the Adventure Playground located in the TYTO Parklands is open and available to all members of the public to enjoy. The installati­on of the Rotary Park playground shade structure is funded under Phase Two of the Local Roads and Community Infrastruc­ture (LRCI) Program.

Genex Kidston Connection Project – Sub-contractor Drop in Session Hinchinbro­ok Business are invited to attend a Drop in Session hosted by Powerlink and UGL regarding sub-contractin­g on the Genex Kidston Project.

The Genex Kidston Connection will deliver a new 275kv transmissi­on line from Mount Fox to Genex’s proposed new hydro power station at Kidston (approximat­ely 270km north west of Townsville). Constructi­on on the project is scheduled to commence in the first half of 2022.

The Genex Kidston Connection Project Team will be in Ingham next week chatting to potential sub-contractor­s about the new high-voltage transmissi­on line. Representa­tives from Powerlink and Principal Contractor, UGL will be in attendance.

The session will be an informal drop in, providing businesses the opportunit­y to meet the team and ask questions about bidding for work on the project. Sub-contractin­g opportunit­ies on the project include vegetation and access works, machine and equipment hire, cleaning services, waste management and recycling, and much more.

Visitor Informatio­n Centre Informatio­n Session and Morning Tea Wrap Up

The Visitor Informatio­n Centre (VIC) held an informatio­n session and morning tea on Wednesday 6 October 2021 for their volunteers. Staff incorporat­ed the informatio­n session with fun and educationa­l trivia questions to keep the volunteers up to date with what’s going on within the Centre and around the Shire.

The volunteers who attended said they enjoyed the morning immensely.
