No new correctional officers for city
MORE than 30 new Queensland Correctional staff have been sworn into vital prison roles, but none will be heading to Townsville.
Queensland Corrective Services welcomed 37 new officers who will work on the frontline of public safety at a ceremony at the Queensland Corrective Services Academy on Wednesday.
The new officers will be posted at two centres in the South East, with 35 heading to Woodford Correctional Centre, and two officers to Arthur Gorrie Correctional Centre. No officers from the latest graduates will head to Townsville.
The ceremony also recognised five of the state’s most experienced officers, with three receiving 40-year long service and good conduct medials, and two receiving 30-year medals.
