New shops set to open

THE much-anticipated arrival of a LEGO Certified Store is building on a retail revival in Stockland’s Townsville shopping centre with a dozen openings or store expansions.

The centre revealed the openings on Thursday, while the Alquemie Group announced an October 23 opening for regional Queensland’s biggest LEGO store.

This month’s openings include Cotton On, Shaver Shop, City Chic, Factorie, and the LEGO Certified Store, while Stacey and Stacey, Universal and Specsavers are expanding their stores.

Stores coming next month include PIVOT, Burger Urge, Subway and an expanded Adairs.

Townsville’s new LEGO Certified Store will open at 9am on October 23.

The 182sq m store has been custom-built to include LEGO brickbuilt features which draw inspiration from local icons and landmarks, in addition to having one of Australia’s largest selections of LEGO sets.

Richard Facioni, founder and executive chairman of Alquemie Group, said he looked forward to meeting brick fans of all ages at the new Townsville store.

Andrew Stallan, centre manager at Stockland Townsville, said the team had worked hard to ensure strength and diversity in the new retailers coming in.

“Our team has listened to what the community wants to see at our centre and responded by securing a really great mix of national brands and up-and-comers that we know customers will love,” Mr Stallan said.

“We’re particularly excited to welcome a first-to-market LEGO Certified Store which will be the only one of its kind north of Brisbane, giving our customers the exclusive opportunity to engage with this type of retailer outside of a major metropolitan city.”

LEGO is taking a position in the same arcade as Myer. Cotton On, PIVOT, Factorie, City Chic and Shaver Shop will be backfilling space of the former H&M store which closed earlier this year.

PIVOT is a new concept store which brings together the best international sports and lifestyle brands such as Nike, Adidas, Puma, Vans and Skechers at value prices.

Gourmet burger group Burger Urge will serve up one of its new large concept stores, taking three former tenancies in the shopping centre’s food court.
