NORTH Queensland is gearing up for the $8m Great Queensland Getaway.

Queenslanders will be able to book heavily discounted holidays right around the state from Monday as the government launches the tourism campaign.

The Great Queensland Getaway will offer discounts on flights, accommodation and tourism experiences to get people to book a holiday in Townsville.

Townsville MP Scott Stewart said now was the time to experience what Queensland had to offer.

“On sale at Queensland.com from Monday there will be up to 50 per cent off tourism experiences, plus flight deals and Queensland bus passes,” Mr Stewart said.

He said Townsville’s tourism operators had been impacted by the pandemic and now was a good time for Queenslanders to visit Magnetic Island, Paluma, and the Museum of Underwater Art.

“There’s two weeks to book – unless these deals sell out sooner – so get in quick.”

The Great Queensland Getaway campaign goes on sale at 9am today and is on sale until 6pm AEST 31 October unless sold out sooner.
