OASIS HERE TO HELP CITY’S VETERANS

-

ALMOST 2000 people celebrated the grand launch of Townsville’s home base for the veteran community.

Oasis Townsville chairman Lieutenant General John Caligari said he was overwhelmed with the support The Oasis received during Saturday’s event.

The Oasis was built to provide veterans with a place to meet with other veterans and their families and friends, and to find the best services in the city to support integration into the community.

“While we have been operating at our new facility at The Village since June, the grand launch really signals our arrival as an organisation that will be part of the fabric of the community for the long-term,” Lieutenant

General Caligari said.

“The event was an outstanding success and provided us with an opportunity to thank all those who have helped and supported us along the way and to showcase to the wider Townsville community what we do.”

Lieutenant General Caligari said The Oasis would grow as more members of the veteran community understand how it can help them and their families whether they are thinking about a transition out of the Australian Defence Force or have been out for years.

“Our objective is to support the economic and social prosperity of Townsville by helping veterans feel safe and valued in the Townsville community,” Lieutenant General Caligari said.
