Twiggy chasing dollars

-

REGARDING Shari’s opinion piece 16-10-21. The notion that her new hero, Twiggy Forrest, is about saving the planet with hydrogen is rubbish. Twiggy Forrest is about making another billion dollars for Twiggy Forrest. At present generating hydrogen using the electrolysis method requires 39kwh of electricity to produce 1kg of hydrogen, which in turn can produce 33.3kwh of electricity not counting transportation. Seems like a cat chasing its tail.

However, the hydrogen is in great demand in metal refining technologies, fuel refining technologies and, of course, space travel. Obviously Twiggy sees a quid to be made from hydrogen with politicians falling over themselves to set a net zero emissions policy and he has jumped on the bandwagon with ‘green hydrogen’.

Shari denigrates Scott

Morrison. Here we have a politician with the ticker to call out China over its human rights abuses to the citizens of Hong Kong and the ethnic minorities within China not to mention the origins of

Covid. Where was Twiggy Forrest on these subjects. Missing in action. Of course he came out in support of his Chinese communist friends and did not lose a dollar in his exports to China.

Perhaps with Twiggy’s new enlightened attitude to climate change he could ask his friends in the Chinese government to stop building a couple of hundred coalfired power stations around the world, which will negate any net zero polices we may set.

MERV JOHNSTON,

Kirwan.
