Tour visits our beach

-

FOR the first time in almost two decades, the Queensland Beach Volleyball Tour (QBVT) will make a stop on the sandy shores of Townsville.

Tournament organiser Shanon Zunker was one of the leading players the last time the tournament was held on the sand at The Strand, and said it was important they made a return to the region.

Zunker has begun a regional resurgence for the QBVT, which has ventured to Bundaberg and Rockhampton in the last couple of years and will also add a Mackay stop on the tour in 2021. “Townsville was for a long time a hot spot for beach volleyball, we have had successful Olympians come from the city. It’s time to get that back,” he said.

The QBVT tour will take over the beach at Strand Park on October 23-25. Zunker said it would be a perfect chance for spectators to see some of the best players in action.
