MUSCLING IN ON GOOD FIT

- SAM FLANAGAN

A WORKOUT that has taken the major cities by storm has landed in Townsville, and a familiar face is pioneering the movement in the region.

Brady and Lily Ellis have opened KX Pilates at The Precinct in Idalia.

Mr Ellis, who resigned from his popular breakfast radio show to launch the business, said KX Pilates was the ultimate workout.

“KX is unique, fast paced and high intensity, but low impact,” Mr Ellis said.

“It’s the sort of workout you can’t get in the gym, on the footy field or netball court. It’s a complete, all over body workout.

“We discovered it when we went to South Australia to visit family. Townsville didn’t have it, so we thought let’s be the ones to bring it here.”

KX is Australia’s leading reformer pilates studio, with more than 75 locations.

It combines traditional reformer pilates with progressive techniques, and is founded on the “Kaizen Xperience”, originating from the Japanese philosophy of kaizen, or “change for the better”.

“We are looking to make a big splash in Townsville and then potentially the rest of North Queensland as well,” Mr Ellis said.

Although he has given up breakfast radio, he said he still was not having a sleep in.

“I’m here seven days a week at 4.30am as well, so I can’t escape,” he said.
