Man, 24, arrested in Kirwan cordon

A MAN wanted over multiple fraud and stealing offences was arrested after police closed in at a Kirwan house.

The 24-year-old man was wanted for multiple property offences allegedly committed in Cairns and Townsville.

About 5.30pm on Monday, police found him at a house in Hicks St, Kirwan.

Police will allege the man ran out the back of the house when officers arrived, so they surrounded the property.

Officers created a cordon to contain the man and he ran back inside the house when challenged by police.

He was arrested and taken to the watch house.

The Edge Hill man was charged with three counts of fraud, three counts of stealing, three counts of enter premises and commit indictable offence, one count each of going armed to cause fear, unlawful use of a motor vehicle, dangerous operation of a motor vehicle, attempted fraud, attempted enter premises with intent to commit indictable offence and wilful damage.
