KATE HAS BEING LOCKED UP DOWN TO A FINE ART

- NUI TE KOHA

KATE Ceberano has pivoted into visual art during lockdown.

“I thought rather than lose my s---, I’d reimagine myself outside all this,” the popular singer-songwriter said.

“I love design, and I love beautiful things, and I’ve made little objects of all of the above, full of beauty and love.”

Ceberano has painted a range of works, using acrylics on canvas, and ink on paper, based on memories of places she’s visited, and the changing seasons.

She has also painted guitars with plans to show at an exhibition.

The singer reached for the paint brushes during Melbourne’s fourth, fifth and sixth lockdowns, after having shows and tours cancelled.

“It’s been a way to create something whimsical and poetic at this time, which is so bleak,” Ceberano said. “As artists, we’ve been unable to forecast the future. We’ve had to endure, with feelings of hope, only to have them dashed.”

Her paintings and drawings – called Unsung Songs – are on sale at fineprintco.com
