Plan to take vaccinations into schools

THE state government has revealed it is working to bring Covid-19 vaccinations into schools to get teens jabbed.

Education Minister Grace Grace was in Townsville on Thursday to announce four schools Thuringowa State High, Heatley Secondary College, Northern Beaches State

High and William Ross State High, would become vaccination hubs on Saturday.

But there are also plans in place to vaccinate teens during school hours, with the state government working with the Pharmacy Guild on the implementation.

Minister Grace said the guild was linking up with local pharmacies in Mareeba to vaccinate kids during school hours, with plans in place for the program to expand.

“We have a number of other ones rolling out in North Queensland, particularly in those low vaccination areas,” Ms Grace said.
