Time to clean up with free tipping

-

TOWNSVILLE residents can dump their rubbish at waste facilities for free over the next four days.

Townsville Mayor Jenny Hill said the free tipping from October 22 to 25 gave residents the opportunity to clean up their house and yard ahead of storm season.

“Whether it be a good oldfashioned clean-up, doing that tip run you’ve been putting off for weeks now, or trimming a few trees and cleaning up the garden, our community has four days to visit our transfer stations for free,” Cr Hill said.

“It’s also a good reminder to have a think about what can be recycled, repurposed or reused to try to limit our impact on the environment and what ends up in landfill.

“Previous free tipping weekends have proven popular, so council thanks the community for their patience if the facility they are attending is busy when they first arrive. Our crews will get you through as efficiently as possible. If you are only planning to dispose of green waste and recyclables, this is a reminder that these can be taken to our waste facilities for free all year around.”

Green waste can be dumped for free all year round.
