Indecent acts lead to arrest at cafe

A MIDDLE-AGED man has been arrested after allegedly masturbating in front of people at multiple popular cafes across Townsville.

Tony Craven, 54, was spotted on Wednesday morning at a Currajong cafe and taken to the watch house, where he was charged with eight counts of committing an indecent act in a public place.

Police will allege Craven exposed himself and masturbated in cafes at Kirwan, Douglas, Thuringowa and Idalia over the past 12 months.

It will be alleged the offences were committed in October last year, and between July and October this year.

It’s understood police have been looking for Craven for months, and an officer spotted him sitting at one of the cafes before his arrest.

It’s understood some of the acts were allegedly committed in front of people.

The Rangewood man was charged and released on watch house bail on Wednesday.

He will face court in November.
