Cowboys put size into pack

- NICK WRIGHT

THE Cowboys have signed former Warrior Jamayne Taunoa-brown on a two-year deal, reuniting with coach Todd Payten. The 24-year-old prop will add plenty of size to the North Queensland pack with his 116kg frame.

His recruitment comes as young gun Peter Hola departs the club, having signed a three-year deal with the C a n b e r r a Raiders. Taunoa-brown (pictured) has played 34 NRL games for the Warriors, and Payten said it was his work ethic off the field, and soft hands and light feet on it, that made him such an appealing prospect.

“He’s a quiet kid who took an opportunity on a train and trial at the Warriors, worked his tail off and earned his way into an NRL system through the backdoor after not being signed out of under 20s,” Payten said. “I am really excited to have him join us at the Cowboys and I envisage him playing an important role for us over the next two seasons.”
