NORTH Queensland skipper Craig Mcelligott has backed Queensland Country all-rounder Chris Stanger to keep a cool head as he prepares to face off against former Cricket Far North teammates for the first time.

Stanger was a key member of the Cricket Far North representative program for the better part of the past decade, but made the move to Townsville last summer.
