$682k in funds for programs

CRUCIAL Indigenous education and wellbeing programs will continue in Townsville and Palm Island with an investment of more than $680,000.

Herbert MP Phillip Thompson (pictured) said the programs, which cover school attendance, parents, health and wellbeing were making a difference.

“The Cowboys will receive $300,000 to continue their School A t t e n d a n c e and Transition Project, which does a great job working to get students to turn up to school five days a week,” he said.

“Meanwhile the Palm Island Community Company will continue its Early Childhood, Parenting and Health and Wellbeing program, and Queensland Youth Services will receive further funding for the Munchkins Playgroup program.

“Townsville Aboriginal and Islanders Health Services (TAIHS) will receive a further $212,508 for its important work supporting disengaged parents and their children by delivering family, carer and parenting support.”
