Youngsters on way up

SOME of the best and brightest Townsville basketballers coming through the ranks are about to undergo what could be career defining moments.

Basketball Queensland’s under-18 state performance program will feature 16 players from the region – with six girls and 10 boys selected to take part.

Among those chosen include Matthew Evans, who has already proven to be a versatile athlete. The rising star is fresh off an AFL Townsville premiership with the Hermit Park Tigers, and is one of several teenage guns who donned the yellow and black in their return to the top of the competition’s podium.
