WORLD MUST STOP PUTIN AND HIS EVIL INVASION

-

Surreal and shocking. The world can barely comprehend what is unfolding in the Ukraine. The nation of 44 million people is being invaded by an enemy that appears hellbent on shaking not just the foundations of Europe, but the security of the entire world.

Russian President Vladimir Putin has began his imperialist mission to return Russia to the glory days of the Soviet Union through military might, and death and destruction appears to be a small price to pay for the former KGB agent to fulfil his aims.

Make no mistake, what is happening far away in Eastern Europe could have major ramifications for us at home here in Australia.

There is no doubt that China is watching the shocking events with an eagle eye.

How the free world responds to Putin’s blatant act of aggression could set the scene for what unfolds in the Asian region in the near future.

It has already been said countless times, but the only thing necessary for the triumph of evil is for good men to do nothing.

Diplomacy has failed and Putin is gambling on the free world to do nothing, apart from launch punitive measures such as sanctions and voices of displeasure.

Any student of history knows the dire consequences of what a lack of action can lead to.

The world must stand with Ukraine.

History may look back on this moment at one of the defining ‘ what if’ chapters of the 21st century.

Since the end of World War II the world has enjoyed an unprecedented period of peace and stability.

There have been proxy wars and the sacrifices made by soldiers in far off lands such as Vietnam and Afghanistan are also remembered and honoured.

But for the first time in less than 80 years the free world is on the brink of confronting a major military power.

This is the reality of the world we live in, and our ancestors always knew that freedom cannot be taken for granted.

The rot has to stop now.

If Putin gets a free hand in the Ukraine, the world as we know it could come to a sudden, shocking end.

It is time for the good men in charge to make themselves counted and write their names in history.
