Bargains in airline seat sale

TWO major airlines are going head to head with massive cheap ticket offerings this week.

Following the announceme­nt of Jetstar’s 18th birthday sale on Tuesday, Virgin Australia revealed it too had posted a round of cheap flights up for grabs until midnight Thursday.

D e s t i n a - tions include Byron Bay, Gold Coast, Sunshine Coast, Hamilton Island and the Whitsunday­s.

Domestic flights on sale with Virgin start from $49 for Sydney to Ballina, and also include a cross-country haul between Perth and Cairns for just $129.

For those going abroad, one-way flights from Sydney, Brisbane and Melbourne to Bali range between $369 and $399. A one-way trip to Queenstown will cost travellers from Melbourne $229 and Sydney $239.

Tickets are limited and will be unavailabl­e if sold out before the sale ends.
