CLOUDS HANG OVER ISOTOPE GROUP 1 BID
THE Group 1 Doomben 10,000 (1200m) is in danger of losing one of its star attractions as a deluge of rain threatens to batter Brisbane this week.
Champion trainer Tony Gollan confirmed he would be unlikely to run his star mare Isotope should the Doomben track become bottomless, as he looks to the clouds in the coming days.
Upwards of 150mm is forecasted to potentially fall during the week, which would all but certainly put Doomben into the Heavy range should it arrive.
Rated a $8 second favourite behind the Peter and Paul Snowden-trained Mazu, Isotope is one of the star attractions in what is the first Group 1 of the winter carnival.
“Isotope is my best chance in it but it depends on the weather with her,” he said
