FACTS ABOUT THE LNP

-

I FEEL I need to reply to Peter Lindsay’s letter in Tuesday’s paper.

Peter, your obvious discontent regarding the treatment of the PM when he commented on having two healthy children is a surprise.

It’s obvious you miss the point as well.

It’s not about his children, it’s about children with disabilities.

I too am blessed with two healthy children, but while watching that unfold on TV it never occurred to me to want to tell that to someone.

My heart went to the family concerned with the disability.

Thank God there is NDIS for these people.

And just as an aside to that the NDIS was introduced by a Labor government and yes, it was opposed in parliament at the time by the Libs. How about that?

You then go on to mention economics and try your best to paint your party as the great saviour of the Australian people.

Well here’s some history for you. The current government has overseen the greatest increase in gross debt since World War II.

We have had the worst collapse of net worth in history.

Lowest rate of wage growth since records were kept.

Record number of profitable companies paying little or no tax.

Lowest global ranking on economic growth ever.

Add to this the skyrocketing cost of living, increasing interest rates and inflation and the fact we are about a trillion dollars in debt.

Yep! Scomo’s got this one covered! You then go on to say “most of the political critique is mindlessly vicious, nasty and erroneous drivel.”

Well Peter, most of this is coming from his/your own party!

I didn’t read too many letters of concern from you when people from your party attacked Julia Gillard. How many letters did you write then Peter, showing your disapproval of mindless, vicious, nasty and erroneous drivel?

I think the names the current PM is having thrown at him are pretty tame by comparison.

“Liar and psychopath” may well be true for all we know hey Pete? JOHN MELLON,

Kelso.

POLITICIANS LET US DOWN

AFTER watching the two

‘debates’, of the men who want to run our country for the next three years, I am left flat and disappointed.

I was born in 1958, growing up in the 60s and 70s, Australia was a land of plenty.

Wages kept pace with expenses, salaries of public servants were close to the private sector, CEOS of companies seemed to work hard and had a good salary.

Getting an education was not hard but university was difficult, until the HECS scheme came in.

Yet in about 1971 and just beyond, ordinary wages lost the ability to keep up with cost of living.

CEOS of companies that supply our everyday needs, (like milliondollar salaries of post office, university, Qantas, insurance, banks and many others), have taken off to the stars, while the rest of us are still in the gutter.

The part of our economy that serves you coffee, cleans your motel room, fixes your car, picks your apples, the driving force of the economy is lagging, and neither of the parties are willing to act on it.

Liberal has allowed the so called ‘free economy’ to take over and ravage and destroy our economy, Labor cannot make up their minds,

and they won’t be able to do anything about it.

Both parties have sold our skill and ability to make stuff to China.

Massive salaries of the hidden CEOS and high government officials, hidden costs, will find their way and eat into your basic salary and distort what you think is saving.

The middle class of the economy are working and saving and not getting anywhere but are being locked into a massive loan to own a home.

The lower class will be stuck in the rental highway, that is going nowhere, expect more rental pain.

Since the 70s money has flowed into our economy, yet why have our wages stagnated, why is the dream of owning a home so far away, why have we in the working class, work so hard no matter who is in government and what they promise, end up with the same or less?

The cost of doing business is way over the actual cost of business. Reports, permits, fees and charges that just keep someone in a job.

Money we are making is going out, faster than we can get it in.

Why spend millions on electric cars, when the roads and wages won’t make it available to ordinary people. The bleeding of money into billionaires’ fortunes is not stopping no matter who is in government.

As long as the stock exchange jockeys win or lose fortunes, our economy will struggle in the real world. Ordinary people will never get our lot lifted, until a massive shake-up of our cost of living.

The two men who stood up to battle it out in debates, did not even address any of this.

We ordinary people are expected to vote for one or the other, the men who totally forgot what the moral cause is.

DEBRA GIBSON,

Pinnacles.

I was disappointed to see that the army of the great unwashed (also known as the Greens) turn up to voting centres in cars that use oil and petrol, putting up signs that are incredibly toxic (ever burnt one and seen the mass of black putrid smoke they emit?) that do not break down for years if ever and also handing out leaflets that I hope was sourced responsibly from renewable forests (I wonder if they know or really care) and of course I wonder how they heat/cool their houses, etc. And we know they will deal with Labor if required. The tree huggers can’t have it both ways. JOE, 4810 Regarding Ray, Hughenden. Well after the West kills President Putin with their one missile on Victory Day the Russians will fire off their just under 6000 nukes. And the US UK and France will fire back, which is called MAD or mutually assured destruction. And will all be dead. So not a great idea. COLIN, 4814

Anthony Albanese said that he would not be doing any deals with the Greens in the event of a hung parliament. And pink pigs may fly backwards. The ALP’S how to vote cards tell a different story. They are

Another QPS drive to push drinks and parties out of the CBD and into Aitkenvale around Stockland where they seem to be a protected species. Police will pat themselves on the back for cleaning up the city, then turn a blind eye to the behaviour, mess and crime only metres from their Aitkenvale station. We remain the carpet this disgrace is being swept under.

giving their first preference to the Greens in seats all over the country. RON, KELSO

Steve, Belgian Gardens, wow mate you are getting more delusional by the day. Renewables are heavily subsidised, everyone knows that and it might just take your mate each way Albo to get elected to make that sink in. Under his watch you will see power prices jump tenfold. Time will tell my friend. SAM, 4850

Glenn White all I can say re your letter 11/5, is wow. It’s amazing someone can be so negative about life here in Australia. You must hate living here if you perceive things are that bad. Maybe you should go for parliament yourself to fix the horrible lives you believe we are suffering here, or perhaps leave. In my version of Australia, it’s pretty

good and our lives are OK, which is probably why so many people want to come here. Nothing is ever perfect but I’m thankful for what we have, love living in this country and don’t feel the need to hate on everything. The glass can be half full. JOHN, WULGURU

Steve, Belgian Gardens who pays for the $1 trillion the CSIRO has estimated as needed to connect these cheap renewables to the grid. Nothing is free and the consumer ends up paying. Doesn’t sound cheap to me. BRIAN, AITKENVALE

Letters Wednesday May 11 was exclusively left, a trifecta of luvvies. One ex-mp whose letter would resonate in inner Melbourne or Sydney, not Townsville, explains why a one term wonder. A GBR defender greenie who shamelessly advocates for the destruction of the jobs of tens of thousands of hard working regional Queenslanders. Last but not least, the angry propagandist of all things left, who has resurfaced after going MIA in the run up to the election, most probably because his extreme views were a political embarrassment to Labor before May 21.
