Charges laid after teens flee police

TWO teens have been charged after the stolen car they were in was stopped by stingers on a busy Townsville street.

A Queensland Police spokesman confirmed the two juveniles who had been assisting police had been charged.

The 13-year-old boy and 14year-old boy were part of a group of six juveniles who were on Friday fleeing from police when the stolen Hyundai Santa Fe they were travelling in was stingered on Riverway Drive about 10am.

The group left the car on Thuringowa Drive and ran towards Willows Shopping Centre. It is understood one of the teens was later seen on the roof of the centre.

The pair who were charged will face Townsville Childrens Court on May 20.
