SADDLE UP FOR FUN FESTIVAL

- SHAYLA BULLOCH

DUST off your Akubra and slide on those R.M Williams kicks as you get ready for a boutique country music festival with a twist headed for North Queensland.

Buck Wild Country Barn Sessions will have everything from western fashion, artisan markets, paint and sip classes, glamping under the stars and live music.

Organiser Lacey Long hasn’t missed a step in preparation for the June 11 event, creating an intimate boho setting for the whole family.

“With Covid there has obviously been that two-year period where there was nothing, so I wanted to create something really special,” Ms Long said.

“It’s not just for partygoers, but for

families as well. I wanted to make something very intimate.”

The mum of three, originally from Townsville, said she wanted to bring the event back to her hometown after relocating to Middlemount and creating her own successful fashion brand, Buck Wild Country.

Her talent for design is sure to help transform the North Queensland Elite Rodeo Grounds. “We’ll have giant lawn games and different activities for the kids, so it’s really just an experience,” Ms Long said.

Artists playing at the festival will include James Johnston, Southbound, Ell Regan, Chelsea Berman and a range of local musicians, before DJ Benny from Brothas Entertainment rips up the decks from 10pm.
