FAMILY OF DEAD MAN DESERVE ANSWERS

-

TOWNSVILLE dad Chris Gillman has been living with the pain of losing his son Aron for three years, but how long will he have to wait to find out how and why he was electrocuted in his North Ward rental property?

Aron passed away in hospital following the tragic accident in 2019, but his father is still waiting to find out what happened to his 25-year-old boy as the coronial investigation continues to drag on.

Investigators shortly after the incident said they believed exposed wires on a hot water system potentially caused chicken wire fencing to become live and electrocuted Aron.

A Coroners Court spokesman says Aron’s death is still under investigation but Mr Gillman feels that surely by now there should be adequate evidence to confirm if the accident was avoidable or if substandard electrical work contributed.

“There are a lot of unanswered questions,’’ Mr Gillman told the Townsville Bulletin.

“You lose a 25-year-old son and no one is giving you answers. It is very, very draining. There just does

an end to it.

“I don’t know if it is government departments with cut funding or (something else), we just want to find out why it is taking so long.”

The Coroners Court spokesman said police assist coroners to gather evidence and “medical specialists compile an autopsy report and other medical reports if required”.

“The nature and number of reports and tests vary, so some investigations like this one can take an extensive period of time to complete,” the spokesman said. “Once the coroner has finalised their investigation, outcomes will be provided to the family.’’

Mr Gillman and his family just want to know when they will get those outcomes.
