Warning to be wary of other viruses

-

TESTING negative to Covid-19 doesn’t mean you’re in the clear, according to health experts who say if it’s not Covid-19, it could be an array of other viruses that are getting you sick this winter.

Despite more than a million Covid-19 cases being detected this year throughout the state, other viruses could still be flying under the radar, according to infectious diseases expert Paul Griffin.

“It’s so important to follow health measures even if you test negative, because symptoms of a virus usually means you’re still infectious,” he said.

This year to May 8, there have been 1848 recorded cases of influenza and 2381 cases of respiratory syncytial virus (RSV), both of which mirror a number of Covid-19 symptoms including fever, cough and muscle soreness.
