MANZELMANN’S AMAZING TRAVELLING ROADSHOW

- GARRY DELL

VETERAN Mackay trainer John Manzelmann doesn’t mind travelling around Queensland in search of success with his team of 30 horses in work.

In recent weeks the leukaemia survivor has been as far away as Birdsville, Mt Isa and Mt Garnet in his seven-horse float chasing to add to his outstanding record of more than 1000 winners.

On Saturday he has only a short hop to Home Hill for the qualifying heat of the Battle Of The Bush, with two runners Mishani Rebel and Revenire.

Four-year-old gelding Mishani Rebel will be ridden by hoop Wanderson D’vila while his 3kgclaiming apprentice Jade Doolan will be on Revenire, who is a recent addition to the stable.

Manzelmann bought the seven-year-old Lonhro gelding from the Ricky Vale stable at Rockhampton for $12,000 three months ago.

Revenire appears to be well suited by the conditions and distance of Saturday’s race after a strong-finishing second to Plenty at Mackay 10 days ago.

Manzelmann believes both runners have an equal chance of landing another trip to the “big smoke” of Brisbane for the final.

Burdekin Race Club is hoping for a record crowd.
