COWBOYS TO PUT ON A SHOW AT QCBS

- NIC DARVENIZA

NEARLY 22,000 fans have already purchased their tickets to attend the Cowboys’ blockbuster home match against the Melbourne Storm on Saturday.

The Cowboys are riding high in the saddle after matching their longest winning streak since the 2016 season with five wins in succession.

The Storm have the wood over North Queensland with 12 straight victories, including the 2017 grand final, but will be without stars Ryan Papenhuyzen and Nelson Asofa-solomona.

Fans can smell blood in the water and have already bought up 87 per cent of the venue’s 25,000 seating capacity.

Winger Kyle Feldt and skipper Jason Taumalolo are the only Cowboys in Saturday’s squad to have ever beaten the Storm.

Feldt hopes a strong crowd can be the difference in snapping that unenviable streak.

“It’s good to see that Townsville and the North Queensland region is getting behind us,” Feldt said.

“It’s about time we started to put on a bit of a show or a spectacle for them.

“They’ve been around for quite a long while and in the past lean years we’ve had. It’s good to see that we’re finally getting some more crowds back in the stadium.”
