IS THE CAR STILL THERE? FROM MANGO TREES TO CUTTING CANE,

THAT GLORIOUS SMELL OF THE COMING RAIN. MARVELLOUS MARKETS WATCHING THE WEATHER, I LOVE OUR NORTH QUEENSLAND

AND CHRISTMAS TOGETHER.

Our Summer officially begins tomorrow. So shake the gecko eggs out of the brolly, no hang on you’ve done that, drag the dead toads out of the pool, yes well you’ve probably done that too, but no probs there’ll more in there tomorrow. That lovely season of wet doggies on the carpet, dead froggies on the road, and boggies in the carpark at work. It a glorious time for nature with the marvellous Black cockatoos, Torres Strait pigeons and the ever

screaming, smelling and s@$$%& %@ bats in the Mango tree. But seriously, for a change, it is a wonderful time, the late night storms to keep your dog under the bed and bring us that magnificent sound of rain on the tin roof, maybe even drowning out the curlews call … nah, nothing drowns out the Curlews! Our gardens are always green this time of year, actually so are our walls, but we love it. Out with the Cloves oil for the walls, Olive oil for the barby, coils for the deck! It’s the time of year we all watch the radar with storms forming out west and rolling into the coast, incredible technology. Switching the radar on a few years back was pulling the curtains back from the window.

We love talking about the weather, and heres a rhyme I’ve stolen, the one up the top of my silliness is mine, but a lady called on the radio and said..

WHETHER THE WEATHER BE FINE OR WHETHER THE WEATHER BE NOT, WHETHER THE WEATHER BE COLD OR WHETHER THE WEATHER BE HOT, WE’LL WEATHER THE WEATHER WHATEVER THE WEATHER, WHETHER WE LIKE IT OR NOT!

Love it, and of course we will. No matter the weather, we are together, especially for magnificent Carols By Candleight this Sunday. This is truly one of the best events of our year,

and the council do a mighty job. The kids have been rehearsing for months, and the Mayor has said it’ll go ahead rain, hail or blackouts. Oh remember the night of the blackout! A couple of Eveready’s and loud voices saved the day, or night to be correct.

Our 1 RAR Band, the incredible Choral Society, a multitude of incredible local talent and you, make this the most wondrous of evenings in paradise.

Happy days

PS See you at Maccas in the City this morning for book signing, and Woolcock Street Maccas tomorrow at 10.30.
