Law firm scores a property success
ACCESS and parking have been key considerations for boutique law firm Life Legal seeking their first office to rent in or close to the CBD.
The firm is operated by Donna Chown and Natasha Busby who joined forces earlier this year.
They have leased a 148sq m office in Ingham Rd, West End, in a building previously used for warehousing but which has been refurbished and converted into three office tenancies.
Ms Chown said the firm with a previous business partner started looking for office space about a year ago and had difficulty finding somewhere suitable. Easy access for clients who were elderly or disabled, particularly given Donna’s speciality in wills and estates, was critical.
They wanted ground floor space with carparking nearby in a tenancy that was still close to the city where Donna and Natasha could access the law courts and government agencies.
Ms Chown said some of their clients didn’t like having to find a car park in the CBD, while many of the tenancies in the city required people to walk up steps or stairs.
She said they enjoyed the flexibility of a boutique firm after working together in a large practice.
“I like to give my clients
flexibility. Some have difficulty travelling. I can see them at their home where they are comfortable. With a large firm you need to charge for travel,” Ms Chown said.
Colliers sales and leasing executive Shaun Mclaren said the Ingham Rd property had been transformed from warehousing to office use under new ownership.
“It’s a great spot for Life Legal. They are on the fringe of the city and have the convenience of parking at their front door,” Mr Mclaren said.
It was also a quality professional office fit-out with an affordable rent.
Records show the 1012sq m property with about 650sq m in office and warehouse space sold in late 2020 for $700,000.
