Desperate search for answers after fatal collision

-

THE grieving family of a much-loved mum of four who was hit by a car and killed in Charters Towers are still waiting for answers almost one month since her tragic death.

Officers from the Townsville Forensic Crash Unit are still investigating the circumstances of a fatal crash that killed Katrina “Trina” McLachlan, 30, in Millchester on Saturday, November 5.

The mum was struck by a car on Bluff Rd about 9.40pm and sadly died at the scene.

Police have since confirmed the 49-year-old male driver of the car and Ms McLachlan were known to each other.

“As the investigation is ongoing, it would be inappropriate to comment further at this time,” a police spokesman said.

Almost a month after the crash, a member of Ms McLachlan’s family said they were still anxiously waiting for answers from police about the circumstances surrounding her death.

It comes as they prepare to lay her to rest in Charters Towers on Monday, December 5.

Charters Towers Funerals recently released a public notice that the funeral service would be held at the Arthur Titley Centre at 10am.

“It is with deep sympathy we announce the passing of Katrina Annette Mclachlan ‘Trina’ late of Charters Towers,” it said.

“Dearly loved mother of Alola, Blaine, Jehdd and Karsyn.

“Loving daughter of Donald and Caroline. Cherished grandmother and aunt. Much loved sister of Casey, BobbieJo, Paul, Jakeb, Shannon, Keegan and Travis.”

Tributes from family and friends remembered Ms McLachlan as a “beautiful woman”.

“You will be dearly missed rest easy sister,” one person wrote on Facebook.

“RIP taken way too soon. So very sad,” another said.

Anyone with dashcam footage or information about the fatal crash is urged to contact police.
