Hampton’s for pups
Luxury resort catering for the pampered furry friends
Pet Resorts Australia has revealed the latest in luxe facilities across its two Queensland locations at Eumundi and Townsville.
The award-winning pet boarding brand has unveiled new Hampton-style suites for pampered pups, as well as a splash park, commando course, doggy daycare, and dog training program in response to Australia’s increased demand for luxury pet accommodation.
Australians share their homes with almost 30 million pets and spend a staggering $33bn annually on their furry friends.
Pet Resorts Australia has re
ported a large uptake in bookings since Covid travel restrictions have eased and the Townsville location is no exception with Queenslanders booking three to six months in
advance.
Pet Resorts Australia Chief Operating Officer Blake De Bruin feels he was born into the industry when his parents began catering to owners of show and race dogs that weren’t able to find boarding kennels that met their standards of care.
It’s this high-quality care Mr De Bruin is most passionate about.
He has been the director of his family’s pet resort that the De Bruins have owned for 38 years and is the current direc
tor of boarding and training for the Pet Industry Association of Australia.
Mr De Bruin is also the CEO and owner of resort management software company Pet Tech Pro which aims to offer better customer service, faster bookings and better staff productivity, and is used in all Pet Resorts owned by his family.
Mr De Bruin said the Townsville pet resort, which opened in 2022, customises each stay for every pet, based on their different dietary requirements, play preferences and medical needs.
The aim of the Hamptonstyle luxury rooms was to “make the transition between home to resort as seamless and stress-free as possible,” with airconditioning and room service available, offering everything from wet food to pasta, chicken mince or salmon and rice.
“We know people and their pets got accustomed to being together day-in, day-out during Covid. Since people have returned to work and are holidaying freely again, we know that pets are experiencing a lot of anxiety and owners don’t want their furry friends left alone,” Mr De Bruin said.
While they’re away, owners are able to receive Pet Postcards which act as progress reports of their pet’s stay giving them a “peace of mind”.
The new training program also gives pet owners access to some of “Australia’s finest trainers” through training partner Canine Evolution.
